RN SENIOR XV v RAN - 2012 COMMONWEALTH NAVIES RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP

more

Royal Navy defends winning record with 6th consecutive victory in Commonwealth Cup The changing room was ready, shirts hung up the ensign hanging at the end of the room and Capt (Tom) Glover (CAF) had the warm up area set-up and ready to go.  The President of the RNRU, Vice Admiral (Phil) Jones CB, came in to see the new players and also Capt (Stu) McLaren RM (RAF Halton), for whom this would more than likely be his last game in a Navy shirt.  As the President left, the changing room returned to business and Capt (Charlie) Chacksfield worked like a demon to get the lads ready for action! Then it was to the warm-up area with Glover for 15 mins, then back inside for...

more

This Wednesday the 10 th of October sees the Royal Navy U23s continue their preparations for the 2012 Interservices Championship, by taking on a Chichester Select XV at their home ground of Oaklands Park. Having established a strong link with the club early last season, a subsequent fixture between the 2 sides proved a spirited and high scoring fixture that saw the RN U23s come out with a 45-16 win. With several U23 players currently on Commonwealth Cup duty with the Senior Squad in Australia, this is a welcome opportun...

CHANGES TO THE ROYAL NAVY SENIOR XV TO FACE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY

more

The Royal Navy has made 3 changes to the 22 that started the game against the RNZN on Sun 7 Oct. The game against the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) will be the deciding game in the 2012 Commonwealth Navies Rugby Competition (CNRC).  The later stages of the RAN game against the Kiwis showed that they still are a team not to be taken lightly. The RAN in their Centennial year would love to take the trophy from the ‘Poms' and keep it in Australia - there is an outside chance they could do just that. However, the RNZN following their first round 41-13 win over the RAN will hope for a Royal Navy slip-up on Thu. Team P W L D P...

Navy men put paid to Kiwi challenge

more

The changing room was ready to go trigger words placed upon the walls, individual kit laid out and the White Ensign adorning the far wall.  All we needed now was the squad! It is never a good sign when the driver stops just outside of the main gate and opens a map. (I am sure that is why we have Sat Nav!). At the ground Lt (Chris) Roberts (RNAS Culdrose) was hopping around like an expectant father. This would be his last full duty before he and the Chairman Capt (Chris) Alcock return to blighty. Team photo taken and warm-up commenced under the guidance of Capt (Tom) Glover (CAF), with the watchful eyes of Head Coach CPO (Ash) Coates (HMNB Portsmouth) and forwards C...
