After their early success at Bury St Edmunds last week the Sharks welcomed 4 new players to their squad and picked up a second trophy at the Hartpury 7s on Saturday. With seven changes to last weekend's team sheet, the Team Managers and Head Coach were keen to integrate the new members and took advantage of the facilities at Imjin Barracks, Gloucester to have a 90 minute training session on Friday afternoon.  Drawn in group 4, alongside the hosts Hartpury College, the Sharks' first match was against the Warpigs.  They won this match 19 -12 and went on to a second victory against Hartpury winning 24-19.  The final group match, against Team Reko Turtles, did not go so ...

Inter Service Stars selected for UKAF Showdown against Saracens

Eight of the victorious IS Championship winning RNRU players have been named in the United Kingdom Armed Forces side to play Saracens at the Honourable Artillery Company's ground at Moorgate this Thursday, 19 May KO 1815. Royal Navy Sharks season starts with success!

Their first outing of the season to Bury St Edmunds for the Greene King IPA 7s competition saw the Sharks come home with the silverware, beating the Exiles to win the plate. In the open competition the Sharks were drawn in Group F with the Samuari Bulldogs, the Stunts and Culford.  Comfortably winning their first two games 19-12 against the Stunts and 21-12 against Culford, the final group match against the Bulldogs was a very different story, with the Bulldogs outpacing the Sharks out wide, securing themselves a 35-5 victory and top of the group. RN Sharks' season starts in Bury St Edmunds

Following on from the excitement of winning the Inter Service Championship at Twickenham last Saturday, the Royal Navy Rugby Union switches its attention to the start of the Sevens' season.  The RN Sevens team, the Sharks, will step onto the pitch to take part in the Greene King IPA 7s open tournament at Bury St Edmunds this Sunday 8 May. Army Masters Win Inter Services with 47-20 Victory Over Navy Mariners

The Navy Mariners started the match brightly pressuring the Army Masters into giving up some early penalties. The Mariners kicked to the corner going for the try but instead produced a handling error, allowing the Army Masters the opportunity to clear from their own 22. The Mariners came back with some clever kicking from inside centre Dean Fentum who put the ball in behind the dangerous Masters’ winger Tuvita Tamatawale. Under pressure the Masters gave away another penalty, this time the Mariners opted to kick for goal but narrowly missed giving up the opportunity to score the opening points.
