RNRU Senior XV AND Combined Services U23 Training Camps Announced

The RNRU Senior XV season will run continually from Sun 1 Feb 15 and will culminate at the annual Inter-Service fixture against the Army at Twickenham on Sat 9 May 15. The RNRU Senior XV training camp will commence on the 01 Feb 15 and will be run from Fort Blockhouse, with elements of the training being conducted from HMS Collingwood and HMS Sultan. Joining Team Captain Dave Pascoe and the other regular squad and team members are Paul SABERTON, Matt BOWDEN, Cory MOORE, Andy KAY and Luke BERRY, who are all new to the Squad this year. Prior to the 2015 Inverdale Challenge Final a number of great names from the recent history of Navy Rugby gathered to mark the achievements of Chris Alcock.  Having recently stepped down as Chairman, his last role in support of the Royal Navy Rugby Union, the surprise re-union of former colleagues gave plenty of opportunity to reminisce about his 32 years contribution to the Game in the Royal Navy.  It also gave the opportunity for the RNRU and the Rugby Football Union to make some presentations. When RN Western Region edged an unlikely victory, away to the Royal Marines, they set up an Inverdale Challenge Cup Final that mirrors this year’s Navy Cup Final.  At the Rectory the pre-match favourites, HMS Seahawk were not able to use their dominant pack to bully a mainly youthful BRNC side to submission.  That the college students won was not only a reflection of their attacking ambition but also an accomplished performance by their captain and flyhalf, Dane Smallbone.  The Inverdale Challenge final is another match where, once again, he will need to blunt a powerful Fleet Air Arm Pack if he is to lift more silverware, two years after he retired from representati...

The Royal Navy Women took to the field at Imber Court, London, on a cold afternoon to face a strong combined Fire and Police Service team containing a number of ex-international and premiership players. This was the return fixture after the RN hosted the Fire Service in Portsmouth last season. The Fire and Police Service made a strong start, scoring 2 tries early on. This is the return fixture after the Royal Navy hosted the Fire Service in Portsmouth last season.
