The RNRU U23's season progresses with a training weekend starting on Friday 28 Sep at HMS Sultan. The weekend will end with a fixture against London United Hospital's on Sunday 30 Sep KO 2.30pm. (Follow the game on Twitter@RNRugby ) The weekend will commence with a training session on Friday afternoon, which will allow the squad to bond and re-fresh the basic skills required. These skills will be developed during Saturday's sessions, working towards the playing style and game plan of the U23's. Fortunes were reversed this weekend as the Devonport Services 2 nd travelled to Paignton for a Devon 2 nd Team Merit Table game and suffered a 27-3 loss, Mark Symes collecting the team's only points. The firsts took on Bude who are rooted to the bottom of the table 3 places below Services. By the end of the afternoon the score-board looked a healthy 43-3. The first half sealed the win and the second should have taken the score through 60 points but injuries and the new system of interchanges to both sides created a disjoined half. The Royal Navy Senior XV travels ‘down under' to defend its unbroken record as the holder of the Commonwealth Cup. This year the teams will go head to head in Sydney, Australia between 1 ST and 13 th October. The concept of a Commonwealth Cup dates back to 1997 when the RN Rugby Union invited the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) to tour the UK. As the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) intended to tour the UK in the same year, it was decided to hold a Tri-Navies rugby tournament, to be held every three years. US Portsmouth First Home Game of The Season in Honours of Terry Le Marquais

US Portsmouth RFC have sent out an open invite to all of those who knew Cdr (Rtd) Terry Le Marquais RN on Saturday 29th September from 13:30 to raise a glass (or two) in his honour. Terry sadly passed away this summer. Saturday will US Portsmouth first home game of the season and will be played in his honour. President Jeff Blackett and many other old faces will be there to have a pint and nibbles to cheers the boys on.
