The Cossack Sword trophy was presented to the Royal Navy Rugby Union by former selector, Captain Leigh Merrick Royal Navy, to represent 'ground gained and held'.   The award is highly valued because only players within the Senior XV squad are eligible to vote, acknowledging the winner's significant contribution to the team throughout the season. The eve of the Army v Navy match is always the occasion for the wider Royal Navy Rugby Union family to come together to acknowledge the outstanding contribution of players and training support group members.  This year was no exception. The finale of the Navy Rugby calendar approaches!

This Saturday the most anticipated match in the Royal Navy Rugby Union calendar will take place at Twickenham, the home of England Rugby.  At 1500 when the match kicks off approximately 82,000 supporters will be waiting to see which side will be victorious in the 101st Army v Navy match.
