RN Sharks at Newquay 7s

The RN Sharks travel to the Newquay 7s this weekend in the 3 rd competition of the 7s' season.  A new look RN Sharks team has continued to improve throughout the season under the direction of Lt (Sam) Cuff RN and Capt (Scott) Ashley RM, both of whom have been mentored by former RN Sharks Head Coach WO1 (Billy) May. This competition sees the RN Sharks in the same Pool as Pelicans and Apache Raiders. The Sharks start their competition at 10.50am against the Pelicans and follow this at 1.10pm with their second and final match of the Pool stage against the Apache Raiders. Babcock Royal Navy 7s Competition - 2012

This year's Babcock Royal Navy 7s competition saw 15 teams from Navy gathering at Ivel Barbarians RFC on Wed 27 th June. Hosts Ivel Barbarians Rugby Football Club had pulled out all the stops in order to make sure this competition had the support expected of such a prestigious competition. The location of Ivel also reduced the travelling distance due its geographical location almost half way between Portsmouth and Plymouth. The competition comprised 3 leagues with the top 3 teams from each league going through to the ‘Knock Out' stages. It was clear from the outset that the teams meant business. Navy Sharks in action in West Country 7s

  Last weekend saw a larger and stronger Navy Sharks squad develop as a side in the West Country 7s. This tournament was of a higher standard than the Wild Boar 7s and included a number of teams from the UK 7s circuit, such as Tsunami, Samurai, Apache, Carmarthen and an Akuma invitation side. The competition also attracted the British Army and France Universities who were to play against each other in the Cup Final, with the Army ending up as the worthy winners. The RNRU Navy Sharks season continues this weekend with a visit to Keynsham Rugby Club for the West Country 7's. This is a large and popular tournament which has attracted some 33 teams including UK 7's circuit sides the Samurai Sharks, Apache Raiders and the British Army.    The competition commences at 10am on Saturday 16 Jun 12, the tournament will commence with the group matches (8 groups of between 4 - 5 teams), with the draw for these groups taking place at 9am (follow the RN Sharks games on Twitter@RNRugby). United Services Portsmouth New Director of Rugby Simon Burns has wasted no time in recruiting a formidable new coaching team. Burns' new team comprises of a wealth of coaching and playing experience. In comes Brian Saunders as Forwards and Development Coach, Brian has vast experience, as a RFU Level 4 coach working in the community game, he also coaches in the London Irish Schools of Rugby Program and working with the Rugby Football Union as a licensed Trainer and Mentor.
