The 2018 Royal Navy Rugby Union Annual 7s competition will take place at Yeovil RFC on Wednesday 6 June 2018.  All ships, units and establishments are encouraged to organise a team to take part in the event which is one of the highlights of the Navy Rugby summer season. Alongside the Men's 7s competition a Women's 6 a side touch rugby tournament will be running, open to all females, with or without previous rugby experience.  The aim of the day is to get as many sailors and marines as possible playing the shorter, faster form of rugby. The Holland Bowl is an annual Rugby 7s competition held between all Royal Marines Bands played in memory of Barry Holland who tragically died in 1994 whilst serving with the Royal Marines Band Plymouth when the coach carrying the Band crashed.  This year's competition took place on 29 April at Clarence Pier Rugby Pitch. The Royal Marines Bands from Portsmouth and Scotland and the Royal Marines School of Music were able to field teams this year and it was decided that a double round robin format would be adopted, with each team playing the others twice (5 minutes per half), culminating in a final between the two top teams (7 minutes per half). On Saturday 19th May the Royal Navy Rugby Union Sharks and Stingrays travelled to Hartpury Collage to face the challenge of their first 7s tournament of the season.  The sun was shining and both teams made a good start, however couldn’t progress past the semi-final of the knock out stage of the competition. The squad met on Thursday for in readiness for a whole day of training on the Friday.  Both teams came together and all players were tested on their base line fitness, and the new players were introduced to the plays and tactics of the Sharks so they could understand their individual requirements for the match day. The Royal Navy Rugby Union Summer Sevens Season begins

The 15-a-side rugby season is drawing to a close but the good news is that along with the arrival of the sunshine the Rugby 7s season is about to get underway.  The Royal Navy Rugby Union elite 7s side, the Sharks, and the development side, the Stingrays, will soon be taking to the field.
