An exciting start to the season for the RNRU Under 23s

The Royal Navy Rugby Union Under 23 team have commenced their run up to the 2018 Inter Service matches, aiming to make it four consecutive wins in the competition.  They started the season with matches against Hampshire RFU Under 20s and Ealing Trailfinders Academy.    Fortunately after 24 hours of heavy rain, the pitches at Chichester RFC were bathed in sunshine to host the Royal Navy Rugby Union U23 team as they took on Hampshire Under 20s in their opening match of the season.  Having welcomed a large number of new players to their open training weekend in August, the Training Support Group, led by Head Coach, John Court, were keen to see how the players would perf...

The Royal Navy Rugby Union is delighted to welcome Commander John Cunningham RN (retired) as their newest Life Member.  John started his Navy Rugby career while under training at Britannia Royal Naval College and has been involved across the wide-range of Navy Rugby activities over his 37 years of service. John has most recently been known for his outstanding work as part of the RNRU Executive Committee as the RNRU’s RFU Council Member, a role he has held since 2012.  He served faithfully for 6 years, representing the RNRU within the heart of the RFU, participating in a number of RFU committees, influencing RFU activity at the highest levels.  Most notably his wor...

RNRU Regional Roadshows search for new talent

As the 2018/19 rugby season kicks off the Royal Navy Rugby Union announce a series of regional roadshows coming to an area near you soon.  The aim of the regional roadshow is to identify new talent and to ensure that all existing RNRU players are tested for their strength and conditioning at the start of the season.   The Senior XV Training Support Group will travel around the country visiting Plymouth, Yeovilton, Portsmouth and Scotland.  Assistant Director of Rugby, Major Scott Ashley, will be assisted by Head Coach, Chief Petty Officer Dave Pascoe, Warrant Officer Fraz Pearson and two Strength and Conditioning Physical Training Instructors, LPT Luke Warrington and LPT ...
