Rugby treasure donated to the RNRU

more

The Royal Navy has a long tradition of playing rugby in distant shores and during the RNRU’s hundred year history, there have been numerous fixtures against all levels and standard of opponents. Although the records of long past fixtures are patchy at best there is a lasting record of a fixture played by HMS IMPLACABLE in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1945; indeed there is also a lasting memento as well! Vacant new position - Navy Rugby Director of Finance

more

A decision has been taken by the Executive Committee of Navy Rugby to split the ever increasing portfolio and workload of the Director of Finance & Marketing. As part of this process it is likely that a position will become vacant to manage the existing Finance arm of the portfolio. The position will involve supervision of the keeping of the Union's accounts, using SAGE Line 40, by a part time book keeper and the preparation of them for annual audit. In addition, the post holder will be required to prepare and manag...

With the additional points kicked the final whistle sounded and the Marines were completely deflated at the final score of 17 – 14. There had been excellent interplay between the Corps forwards and backs and in the early stages they looked capable of running away with the game but the Air Command closed the game down at every opportunity and made their sl...

RNRU KICKS OFF THE RFU ‘GO PLAY RUGBY’ SCHEME

more

As part of the RNRU Strategic Plan for the growth of Rugby within the Navy the sports afternoons at HMS COLLINGWOOD and HMS SULTAN have been ‘taken over’ by RNRU Coaches. The first Training Session took place at HMS Collingwood on Tue 9 Jan with 100 trainees participating and a ratio of student to coach of 10:1. It is hoped that these taster sessions will inspire new players to take up the game and give junior coaches the opportunity to develop experience. With between 80 – 100 trainees in attendance at each session it is anticipated that our newly entered personnel will receive a first class introduction to rugby with the potential of reaching 2000 students on a termly...
