Cowboy's Citing Upheld

more

At a recent RNRU Disciplinary Hearing the panel upheld the primary issue from the ARU's citing of Navy U23 Captain, POET Wayne 'Cowboy' John. The panel, chaired by RNRU's Disciplinary Officer, Cdr Stuart Crozier, did not however feel a playing ban was warranted but have issued Cowboy with a formal caution to make him aware of the potential for serious injury from dangerous tackles and to remind him of his responsibilities as a player. Commenting on the hearing judgement Navy Director of Rugby, Lt Cdr Geraint Ashton Jones said, "The hearing was very fair and thorough. Cowboy had already accepted that he had committed a dangerous tackle although not intentionally so. That such play could h...

The Senior XV got underway on a wet and windy night at Birkenhead Park against the AA Wooden spooners, drawn from Division 2 and 3 clubs in the North of England. With Capt. Matt Parker(C...

Following the match against the Army U23 on 24 November the Army Rugby Union have cited Navy skipper POET Wayne 'Cowboy' John (HMS Bulwark) for an alleged dangerous tackle. Asked to comment Navy Director of Rugby, Lt Cdr Geraint Ashton Jones said: "I can confirm that the Army have informed us that they intend to cite Cowboy for a dangerous tackle but until I receive all the evidence from Navy Rugby's Disciplinary Officer (Cdr Stuart Crozier) and have been able to talk to the player it would be wrong to comment further. What I will say though is that the Army Rugby Union have handled the matter very fairly. They gave an indication immediately after the game that there was a concern but th...

A thoroughly enjoyable day at RNAS Yeovilton saw the RN Ladies and NAC both victorious over our allies from northern Europe; and despite the biting cold and wind the general standard of play belied the conditions. The Combined Services fixture saw 6 of last years RN squad take the field during the 80 minutes under the Captaincy of Dave Pascoe (RFA...
