The Bristol Rugby Academy & GRFU are seeking to appoint coaches to deliver on their development pathway programme from U13 to U16's for the period Oct 2012 to August 2013. The coaches will be responsible for providing a positive and successful development environment and opportunities for players to develop both as people and rugby players. The responsibilities will include supporting the planning & delivery of sessions, attending coaches meetings, the end of season review meeting and completing player feedback forms. The Royal Navy Rugby Union Referees Society (RNRURS) would like to extend an invitation to all RN coaches to attend a RNRS Training day. Devonport Services 24 v 17 Truro

After last weeks narrow loss away to Wellington in the opening game, this week Devonport Services took on Truro at home. Truro had beaten Bude easily in their first game by 38 - 8 and no doubt came expecting to do a similar job on Devonport Services. The afternoon produced a thrilling game that saw the lead change hands three times, Services got off to a ripping start with three penalties in 12 mins from Matt Anstis. Truro where stung in to action and came back with 2 converted tries and a penalty to make it 9 - 17 at the break. Royal Navy Sharks 7s Coaching Mentor WO1 (Billy) May (RTRO HMNB Portsmouth) has been selected as the Assistant Coach to the Samurai International RFC during the forthcoming 2012 Safari Sevens in Nairobi. The Samurai Squad will consist of 2 current All Blacks and 5 from the current All Black 7s training squad. Billy will join former All Blacks 7s Coach Ed Cocker. Billy said of the invite ‘ It is a great honour to be part of the Samurai Coaching team and a fantastic opportunity to develop my coaching and work with some of the most exciting players in the world of Rugby 7s'

RNRU Mourns the Passing of Gordon Waddell

Gordon Waddell, was a National Service subalterns in 42 Commando Royal Marines in 1957 who passed away on 13th August 2012. He was best known as the Captain of the Scotland rugby team and was ever present on two Lions tours. Gordon played most of his service rugby with at Devonport Services and went on to represent not only the Royal Marines but the Royal Navy. Upon leaving the service Gordon settled in South Africa and became MP for Johannesburg North. His memorial service is on Tuesday 25th September at Chelsea Old Church, Old Chelsea Street London SW3.
