The Royal Navy Rugby Union President's XV were delighted to take part in the opening fixture of the Royal Australian Navy Rugby Union tour to the UK.   Going from strength to strength, the President's XV played a convincing match of rugby, defending well and scoring 3 tries to win 15 - 0. The Royal Australian Navy Rugby Union were officially welcomed to the UK by the Royal Navy Rugby Union at a ceremony onboard Admiral Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory. The historical surroundings were the ideal location for the players of the Royal Navy and the Royal Australian Navy to meet each other in a more friendly and relaxed situation than the one they will experience when they meet on the rugby pitch at United Services Sports Ground, Burnaby Road next Monday 12 March. The Mighty Mariners take on Havant RFC

It was a cold clear night in Portsmouth as the Royal Navy Rugby Union Mariners assembled to take on a strong Havant RFC team.   The select crowd, including the Portsmouth University Netball Team, were entertained by an energetic display of rugby, with plenty of passing and tries for both teams.   The final score Mariners 34 – Havant RFC 30.
