Loud music and sweat marked the start of the Malta Consolidation Period. After a relatively tiring first day establishing on the island, with the inevitable airport queues and Mediterranean traffic jams slowing our progress, the squad was quick to acclimatise to the no-frills hotel environment before getting down to the job in hand of consolidating the season’s progress to date. On 01 April 2015 the Royal Navy Rugby Union will welcome the Rugby Club de la Marine Nationale to Burnaby Road in Portsmouth for the 11th meeting for the Babcock International Trophy.  This annual fixture has become very important in the rugby calendars of both Unions and is certainly not for the faint hearted on the pitch or on the sidelines.  We look forward to exciting rugby and fair play on the field of play and to renewing friendships and reaffirming the strong bonds between our two Navies off it.      The Senior XV rugby fixture is now well established and 6 - 4 in the Royal Navy’s favour, although last year saw an impressive Marine Nationale ...

From the outset HMS Ocean proved a strong contender for this year's Western Regions 10's Tournament held at Devonport Services RFC . Ocean's pool against HMS Seahawk, BRNC Dartmouth & HMS Monmouth saw them excel in rugby ability to steam ahead to the finals to be held 10th March in Portsmouth. Ocean made a strong opening to the tournament in their first game against HMS Seahawk. Ocean kicked off the game but quickly secured possession from a turn over by PO(AH) (Nathan) Attis and maintained possession for PO SEA (Jan) Geldard to score the first try of the tournament. The Royal Navy know what to expect from the Esher Cardinals at Molesey Road on Wednesday night.  The Surrey outfit have always played a fast, expansive game that tests the opposition and puts them under pressure.  The Navy team will not only be looking to subdue the foe in front of them but also the one inside as they seek to exorcize the on-going discipline issues at the break down.  A good performance will set them up for their warm weather training camp in Malta and then the challenge of Worcester at the end of the month.
