The Royal Navy Senior XV started there 2013 season with a rearrange home game against Oxford University as the Oxford pitch was deemed unplayable. The weather conditions were always going to play a significant part in the fixture as the driving rain made the lineout a lottery and handling became difficult. From the kick-off the rustiness of the Navy became very apparent as Oxford coming off the back of a victory the previous week against the Army had the better of the early exchanges. RN SENIOR XV START THE 2013 INTER SERVICE CAMPAIGN IN PORTSMOUTH

The RN Senior XV were to begin there build-up to the 2013 Inter Service Championship with a trip to Iffley Rd the home of Oxford University on Wed. However, due to the condition of the pitch in Oxford and the willingness of both teams to make this fixture, it was agreed to move it to Burnaby Road, Portsmouth. Back on home soil, the RN Senior XV hope's to emulate last season's 10-0 victory over the ‘Dark Blue's'. However, the squad are well aware that it is always going to be a challenging encounter when playing the ‘Dark Blues' and another closely fought game is expected. RN(W) LOSE TO A STRONG PLYMOUTH ALBION SIDE

On 6 Feb 13, the RN(W) lost to a strong Plymouth Albion side at Devonport Services.  The match began with a Plymouth Albion kick off and some good Albion pressure resulted in the Navy conceding a penalty around halfway, which Albion where unable to convert.  Plymouth Albion continued to put pressure on the Navy defence, which held up well which is great testament to the work of both the team and the coaches.  The Navy managed to break through the Albion line and pushed up field and into the Albion 22m.  At the scrum, the Navy were put under pressure by the larger Albion pack and only some good tackles by Fly Half, LET(WE) (Sarah) Je...

The RN Women continue their preparation for the Inter Services with a match against Plymouth Albion on Wed 6 Feb 13 at Devonport Services (Kick off 7pm). RN(W) Chairman Lt Cdr (Kirsty) Marlor said of the fixture ‘The Navy Ladies are looking forward to the game, particularly after their victory against Paignton in January.
