Rugby World Cup 2015 Team Bases - Update

After an intense phase of site visits, the RWC 15 site teams submitted their Team Base Preferences on Friday 21st March.  The team are now working through the process of cross checking all the submissions in order to allocate teams to bases.

Generally speaking, there are 3 main principles for allocation in the event that teams both want the same bases or their arrival/departure to/from the same base clash.

·         Teams that are playing their next match near to the team base receive priority.

·         Teams that are staying for a longer period of time i.e. enough time to access training facilities, receive priority.

·         Teams with a higher ranking (as of the pool allocation draw in 2012) receive priority.

In the event that there is no clear differentiator or agreement cannot be reached with the teams, then ultimately the team with the higher ranking will receive priority.

The feedback from the teams about the team base site visits has been overwhelmingly positive, with all of them being incredibly impressed with the quality of facilities, the professionalism of all involved and above all, the warmth of welcome provided. Therefore RWC 15 thank everyone for all their support and hard work in making all the arrangements for the visits and for being such great ambassadors for the tournament and England as a whole.

RWC are working to conclude the process as quickly as possible, and believe that they should be in a position to advise team bases of a successful outcome in securing a team in the week commencing 7th April.  RWC will be in contact with each team base lead to discuss the status of their team base and all allocations of teams to bases will be subject to the Team Base and Hotels completing the Rugby World Cup 2015 Team Base Agreement/Contract.

Once all of the successful Team Bases and Hotels have signed the relevant agreements with England Rugby 2015, RWC will then be in a position to publicly announce the official Rugby World Cup 2015 team bases.

Further information will be posted on the RNRU website as it becomes available.
