ROYAL NAVY RUGBY SEVENS TEAM –CAYMAN SEVENS 2006

The Royal Navy 7's team fresh from their success at the Middlesex National Club 7's(Plate Winners) last weekend are now concentrating on their next tournament. They have been invited to participate in the prestigious Cayman Island 7's, a Level 1 competition on the 9 and 10 June, they will be competing against some of the best 7's teams on the world circuit, a great test for the players and coaching staff alike. The draw for the Cayman 7's on day one has the Navy in the same group as the Fiji Barbarians, Cayman Island President's Select and Jamaica. Dependant on these results the Navy side containing 5 players from the successful Dubai 7's team will progress into either the Cup/Plate groups on day 2, which will eventually lead them to the knockout stages. Scores and reports will be communicated back to the UK on completion of each game and will be updated on the website throughout the day. Navy 7's coach Billy May said " The Cayman 7's is a step up in class with regard to the opposition we will be playing, it will test the squad to the limit, realistically if we can come away from this tournament finishing 5th/6th from the 12 entrants I will be more than happy." It is a great opportunity, in a great setting for the players to develop their core skills and to push for selection into the 1st XV with the tour to South Africa just over the horizon, Navy Rugby and the Navy 7's team is indebted as always to the continued support from Royal Navy Sports Lottery and our sponsors Flagship Training Ltd.
