New Chairman of Northern Region Rugby Appointed

The Royal Navy Rugby Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Capt A J Willis RN in the position of Northern Region Chairman.

Capt Willis joined the Royal Navy in January 1983 and joined HM Naval Base Clyde as Captain of the Base and Captain HMS NEPTUNE in May 2013.

Capt Willis has been involved in Rugby Union from an early age. He has played at local club level in both the UK and Australia as well as being a qualified coach and referee involved in UK South East Area Club Youth rugby. He has previously served as the Chairman, Naval Air Command Rugby.

He is looking forward to raising the profile and improving opportunities for new and existing players and coaching staff. He is resolved to ensuring that Northern Region becomes a force to be reckoned with when competing against the other RN and RM Commands.

He is keen to see the development of the 7’s, 10’s and 15’s Men’s and Women’s rugby across the Northern Region of the TK which stretches from the M4 northwards and includes RN and RM personnel in Clyde, Arbroath, Rosyth, Liverpool and Barrow-in-Furness, as well as a number of recruiting offices and smaller outstations.

Players, officials and members of the PT staff are honoured to welcome Capt Willis as head of rugby in the Northern Region and look forward to successful seasons with him at the helm.
