COMBINED SERVICES DoR LT CDR ‘Doc' COX NAMES THE FINALS MEMBERS OF HIS COACHING AND SUPPORT TEAM

With the Representative Teams now forming up on the road to the Inter Services, the RN staff within the CS U23 set-up has been formalised. Following a successful U23 season I would like to welcome on-board the following critical members to both the coaching and support team. It is hoped that these appointments  will assist the CS U23's prepare for Army v Royal Navy ‘Curtain Raiser' against Oxbridge at Twickenham on Sat 27 Apr.

WO ‘Billy' May (Assistant CS U23 Director of Rugby). Billy brings a wealth of experience as a former head coach of the Senior XV as well as coach to Samurai and Harlequins 7's sides. He will help guide and mentor the 3 service coaches in the build-up towards the big day, providing his unique brand of direction and support.

Capt RM (Scott) Ashley CS (U23 Assistant Head Coach). Scott has had a successful U23 season and knows how to get the best out of a young squad of players. He will under the watching eye of Billy be able to fuse together with the other coaches a dynamic team, worthy of pulling on a CS shirt and stepping up to the next level. I am especially looking forward to seeing Scott on the ‘training paddock', where he will undoable bring a touch of Royal Marine ethos to the playing squad.

CPO ‘Taff' Wilcock (CS Team Manager). Taff again is another member of the U23 set-up. His passion and professionalism have already been seen within CS Rugby. Taff brings a much needed impetus into the management set up, as a former Command Field Gunner he knows what is expected to perform on the big stage.

Also at this time I am also pleased to announce that WO (Glyn) Barraclough has accepted my offer to head the coaching team of the CS Women. Glyn has coached at both Wasp's, St. Alban's and he will also be the Head Coach of the Army Women. Glyn will be supported by coaches from the other two services, yet to be formalised. SSgt (Chloe) McKenrick will continue as the logistical manager for the side building on her work with the CS Women and Army.

With the CS Women's and Senior games not until November, this hiatus gives the Head Coach CPO (Ash) Coates and I the time to watch all 3 services play. This will allow us to look at new and seasoned players, engage with the respective coaches and get a real feel on who is ready to step up to the next level.
