The Royal Navy Men ground out a victory against the RAF in Ealing to ensure that Army v Navy will be a winner takes all encounter for the Inter Service Championship. Taking to the field after the Women and the Mariners, the Men knew that they stood in the way of a Royal Air Force clean sweep and they converted their dominant performance into an 18-10 victory. With the RAF in sights for the Royal Navy Rugby Union the first Senior Men's, Women's and Mariners Inter Service sides of the 2020's have been announced. It was already known that Lt Jarrard Hayler RM, LH Rose Dixon and LAET Paul Saberton would lead their sides on Saturday 9th April and now their teams have been released by their respective Head Coaches. HMS Montrose braved the Gulf heat to take on teams from Bahrain and Saudi Arabia on Friday for the Bahrain RFC Avlon Active Tens tournament. The Type 23 Frigate have recently conducted a crew handover in Bahrain and there was no better welcome for the sailors to the Gulf than a Rugby 10s tournament organised by the always welcoming Bahrain Rugby Football Club. The Tournament took two teams from Bahrain RFC (the Reds and the Blacks), two from Riyadh and Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia as well as the one from the Duke Class Frigate.
