UKAF Women commemorate Remembrance Day in Wales

The UK Armed Forces Women’s team travelled to Wales on Wednesday to take on the Wales Women Development team at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.  The crowd were joined by a number of serving and reserve soldiers, sailors and airmen to conduct a short act of remembrance before the match.  It was an entertaining match with plenty of tries scored, and the final score was Wales Women 39 – UKAF Women 17.  For the full details including the UKAF match report click here . Royal Navy Rugby Union (Women) team captain Lieutenant Commander Charlotte Fredrickson has been selected to represent the UK Armed Forces (UKAF) Women against Wales Women at the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park on Wednesday 8th November 2017. This is the UKAF Women's annual Remembrance Match, held to commemorate all those who have lost their lives in military service, and also to raise funds for the vital work of the Royal British Legion. Returning to the UKAF side is Navy Rugby stalwart, Charlotte, whose role in the Royal Navy is as a Flight Observer in the Fleet Air Arm. UK Armed Forces Rugby Team travel to Bristol for Remembrance Match

The clocks have gone back, the nights are drawing in, the British Legion have launched their Annual Poppy Appeal and Remembrance Day approaches.  So too does the annual UK Armed Forces Remembrance Match.  This year the match will be played at the Ashton Gate stadium in Bristol on Wednesday 8th November, and the best of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force Rugby Union squads will combine to take on Bristol United RFC.  The aim of the match is to mark the sacrifice of all those who have lost their lives in military service, and to raise money for the important work of the Royal British Legion. It was with some trepidation that the Royal Navy Rugby Union U23 team travelled to Devonport for their fixture against the Exeter Chiefs Outreach side. Last year the young Navy players suffered a heavy defeat, losing 15 – 43 in Plymouth and this year they were keen to make a better impression. And this they duly did, coming back from behind to level the score 30-30 before the final whistle.
