World Rugby U20 Championship Volunteers Required

The RFU are seeking a number of volunteers to take on roles to support the World Rugby U20 Championship tournament. In Particular, the RFU are looking for a Team Liaison Officer (TLO) for each of the 12 teams who will need to be available from 3rd June (last team is due to arrive on the 3rd June) until the teams depart on 26th June.  The role will involve the TLO accompanying the team at all times and being the RFU's point of contact with the team throughout the tournament. Oh the problems of success!  Having secured the U23 Inter Service crown before Christmas the U23 Service season transfers to the UKAF team and their annual match against the combined team representing Oxford and Cambridge Universities, held before the Army Navy match.  As champions a good representation from the Royal Navy Rugby Union could be expected and indeed fifteen made the provisional squad.  The problem?  Well a number of them did quite well last Wednesday in the 50-26 victory away at Cambridge University, so why kick off at 12:00 when you can aim for 15:00 on 30 th April 2016? The Royal Navy started their 2016 Inter Service preparations in the best way possible with a seven try victory away at Cambridge University; 50-26.  With Matt Tichias scoring the first and Lewis Cooper grabbing the seventh it epitomised the blend of experience and youth that Ben Priddey led out in this opening game.  Cambridge University contributed fully to an enjoyable and exciting match with four tries of their own but the Royal Navy were never under scoreboard pressure despite including their now traditional period of playing with a man in the sin bin! Light Blues First Up for Royal Navy’s 2016 Inter Service Preparations

With their proposed opening match cancelled, the Royal Navy get their 2016 season underway at Grange Road on Wednesday when they visit Cambridge University.  As ever the early games will see a number of permutations tested before the squad settles down.  Cambridge University, under new captain Daniel Dass, will be looking to bounce back from last weeks 31-11 to the Army.  The Royal Navy will be aiming to repeat last season’s 31-3 victory.
