Despite the result, the Royal Navy Rugby Union had a great day on Friday.  The day was full of excitement and promise as we hosted the Army Rugby Union, Vice Presidents, Life Members, Sponsors and guests.  ESS VAdm P A Jones CB presented Chris Garside from ESS with a framed shirt as a small thank you for their continued support to the Royal Navy Rugby Union.  Chris Garside and Dev Dhillion were both in attendance and were delighted with the shirt.  The replica shirt will be available online and will also be sold through a selected number of ESS managed outlets within establishments from early 2014.           &n...

Soper’s Soldiers Sink Navy’s Hope

Lee Soper, the Army U23’s forwards coach was a very good lineout forward for the Army in his day. Last night he would have been proud as the Army pack stole a number of critical Navy lineouts contributing to the starvation rations that the Navy half backs had to survive on. It was to the Navy’s immense credit that with five minutes remaining they were within one score of the Army team. However the final score of 25-14 to the Army was a fair reflection of the overall play. The early exchanges did not look promising for the Navy. U23’s Presented with Colours

VAdm P A Jones CB yesterday presented colours to ten new Royal Navy Rugby Union players. Colours are awarded to players who participate in Inter Service matches. The U23’s who have worked hard to earn their new colours this season are, Ash Wakefield, Dewi Pearce, Edd Pascoe, Eldon Myers, Jack Basher, Jack Tindle, Jordon Shuttleworth, Luke Davies, Tom Hughes and Tristan Trehan.
