RN Senior XV 13 - 6 RAF

more

The Royal RN Senior XV faced a determined RAF team on Wednesday night in a windswept and very wet evening at Portsmouth. The weather throughout the day had a major impact to the advantage of the Royal Navy teams as first the Women, and then the Mariners, won their matches to set the scene for the Senior XV to complete the first ‘clean sweep' in this fixture. The RN started the game in a positive manner and the early engagements favoured the home side.  Following a RN scrum Sgt (Gaz) Evans (1 ASRM), playing at his preferred position of No 8, broke the RAF line and off-loaded to Fly Half Mne (Nathan) Huntley (40 Cdo RM) who couldn't gather the ball cleanly. ROYAL NAVY SENIOR XV v ROYAL AIR FORCE

more

ROYAL NAVY SENIOR XV v ROYAL AIR FORCE The last game of Round 2 in the 2012 Babcock Inter Service Trophy will see the RN Senior XV face the RAF (Kick-off 7pm). The RAF saw action a week earlier against the Army at RAF Halton. Despite some excellent rugby, the RAF eventually lost the game 0-59. The score does not do the RAF credit as the team made the Army work hard for every point. We are sure to see the same commitment from the RAF during Wednesday's game in Portsmouth. The game will see NA (SE) (Aaron) Hunt (RNAS Culdrose) gain his first Inter Service cap as a Senior XV player, a cap that is long overdue for this 24 year old Naval Airman. Hunt has already accrued 8 U23 Inter...

Royal Navy Women v Royal Air Force Women Preview

more

ROYAL NAVY WOMEN v ROYAL AIR FORCE WOMEN The Royal Navy Rugby Union (RNRU) will start its 2012 Inter Service Campaign on Wednesday 18 April 2012.  The RNRU will face the Royal Air Force (RAF) at United Services Sports Ground (USSG), Burnaby Road, Portsmouth.  The first game of the day will start at 2pm and will feature the Royal Navy Women and the RAF Women.  It has been a difficult season for the RN Women as poor weather and player availability has meant that they have only played 3 fixtures before facing the RAF Women, a win over Paignton 21-7 in the early part of the season and an encouraging encounter against Trojans. This left the RN Women with a trip...

Marine Nationale Women v Royal Navy Women

more

Marine Nationale 60 v 5 Royal Navy Women For the first time both the RN Senior XV and RN Women travelled to France to face the Marine Nationale in the bastion of the French Navy, Toulon. The first game of the day was the Marine Nationale Women against the Royal Navy Women, which promised to be an open running affair. The French Women were quicker off the mark and made the Royal Navy Women pay for missed tackles by scoring 3 tries in the first 9 minutes (19-0). The RN women regrouped and under the captaincy of Lt (Charlie) Fredrickson held the French Women at bay and followed this with some quick tap penalties that forced the French back into their own 22m. It took the F...
