Royal Navy women announce new Team Captain

At the RN Women's End of Season Dinner, held on 11 Jun 11 at the Maritime Club, Portsmouth, it was announced that Lt (Victoria) Percival RN (DE&S Abbeywood) had decided to stand down as Team Captain after 3 years in the role.  Her replacement was revealed as Lt (Charlotte) Fredrickson RN (849 NAS).  Charlie has been a member of the RN WRU since she joined the Royal Navy in 2004, playing predominantly on the flank.  Throughout her time in the squad, she has shown herself to be a strong leader both on and off the pitch.  Charlie has represented the Combined Services as well as the South West of England, proving her outstanding rugby ability.  LAWT (Sophie) Hind...

Navy Coach works with Samurai Rugby during the 2011 7's Season

Former Head Coach to the RN Senior XV and Navy Sharks WO1 (PT) (Billy) May has spent the closed season working with Samurai International as one of the coaches to this prestigious 7's rugby teams.  Founded in 1996 and renowned for their adventurous free flow style of play which has carried them to success in many competitions around the world. During the 7's season Billy has coached the Fiji Global Samurai to the final of the Manchester 7's only losing to the Spain in the final.   This was followed with a competition which involved the Samurai Sharks which is the Samurai Academy team during the Wild Boar 7's he took the team to the semi finals which considering the team...

Hurley, AC, DSC (Chief of the Defence Force) opened the 2011 International Defence Rugby Competition In a statement General Hurley said, it is a tremendous way to celebrate the rich history of Rugby Union that exists within many of the world's defence forces.
