The Royal Navy Men head to the capital tomorrow looking to avenge their last minute defeat in the thriller that turned out to be the last Royal Navy match before the Covid pandemic.

The last time the two sides met in March 2020 the match was a topsy turvy 12 try thriller which was decided with the last kick of the game after the Navy gave away a needless penalty. The 38-39 scoreline reflected the attacking intent from both teams and spectators at tomorrow's event will either be hoping for more of the same! With the Royal Navy Inter Service squad due to be announced soon it will be a last chance saloon for players to demonstrate that they are the calibre needed to win against the Marine Nationale, RAF and Army.

Assistant Director of Rugby Commander Arty Shaw said ahead of trial match and long standing fixture with the historic Richmond RFC, "What pleased coaches most about last week was not only the first half defensive performance and the ability to take our chances when we could, but the impact of the finishers who took their opportunities to show us their skills and abilities. We want every player to give us the selection headache they deserve and to stake their claim for the inter services squad."

The match kicks off at 19:45 at The Athletic Ground in Richmond, entry is free and support is welcome.

As the Inter Service Championship gets closer time is running out to get your replica team kit. Visit the RNRU Shop to get this season’s shirt.
