The Royal Navy Senior Rugby side will kick off their 2021-22 season earlier than usual this year with a Friday night visit to Championship side Cornish Pirates on 3rd September.

It will be the first time that the Royal Navy side has played at the famous Mennaye Field and the Senior Service will hope to make the most of their debut in Penzance. With the Fleet Air Arm consistently churning out talented service rugby players and RNAS Culdrose only being 15 miles to the East it is a surprise that the two sides haven’t met previously. However with the Pirates consistently performing well in the RFU Championship the two fixture calendars had never previously aligned!

The Royal Navy has been blessed in recent years with talented Cornishmen coming through their ranks, Head Coach Dave Pascoe, former captain Ben Priddey and international sensation Sam Matavesi have all learned their rugby trade in the county that the Pirates reside in. With such close links to the county there is little doubt that many Royal Navy players will feel at home at Mennaye and the opportunity is likely to generate great passion!

Ticket details will be confirmed and announced as soon as possible.
