Royal Navy Rugby Union (RNRU) - Vacancy for Senior Women's XV Team Manager

The RNRU are looking for a highly motivated individual to assume the vital position of Team Manager for the Senior Women’s XV Team. The successful candidate will be expected to take on the role with immediate effect and be prepared to commit to at least 2 seasons. The position will be reviewed in May 2024.

The closing date for applications is 1200 on 18 Jul 2022. Applicants that pass the CV sift will be invited to a virtual interview week commencing 25 Jul 2021 (exact timings tbc). Those applicants who fail to be called forward for interview will be informed at the earliest opportunity. The selection panel will consist of Cdr Rob O’Kane (DoR), Lt Cdr Paula Bennett-Smith RN (aDoR), Cdr Vic Percival RN (aDoR Desig) and Cdr Alan Church RN (Rtd) (RNRU Sports Development Officer). The successful candidate will be notified after all the interviews have taken place. Unsuccessful candidates at interview will be informed after all the interviews have taken place.

Qualification and experience
The candidate must have managerial experience, which does not require to be of a rugby nature. However, they must be serving in the Naval Service and have a terminal date of no earlier than Jun 2024.

Terms of reference

The Team Manager is responsible for the administration of the Senior Women's XV which includes the remaining members of the Team Support Group (TSG). They will have delegated powers of authority and will work directly to the ADoR.

The Team Manager will be responsible for all aspects of administration for the Senior Women’s XV, including:

Day-to-day management of the squad and TSG.
Provide continual leadership for the squad and TSG.
Booking of accommodation and victuals for all fixtures for the squad and TSG.
Fixtures management – to include pitch bookings, engagement with opposition & referees and transport bookings.
Working in conjunction with the ADoR and Head Coach with squad selection and player/TSG availability.
In association with the ADoR manage finances within the budgetary constraints. Including holding an RNRU ePC.
Manage and co-ordinate all off-field matters.
Produce and control the administration orders / instructions (AO) training programmes and orders.
Management of on field kit and off field kit.

This prestigious and busy position is extremely rewarding but it is also demanding in terms of commitment both during the working day as well as evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate will need to be available for a period in Jan & Feb (winter fixtures) and then from Mar to May (Training Camp), to manage players and conduct hands-on Team Manager duties. Pre-season administration duties will also be required in Sept to Dec, and for post-season administration in May. The successful candidate will need to confirm in writing their ability to honour the time commitment. Evidence of approval from your Chain of Command will be required, after CV sift and prior to interview. This post is unpaid.
