Royal Navy Mariners – Getting Ready for a Demanding Season

The Royal Navy Mariners will meet for the first time this season to play HMS Heron on 4 Dec 13 (KO 1430).  The match will be the first chance to look at a wealth of new talent recently recruited.  This game will give newly appointed Head Coach, Lt Paul Clark (BRNC) the opportunity to assess the new players along with looking at player combinations for the forthcoming season.

This season, the RN Mariners will be captained from the outset by Lt Cdr Jamie Phillips (BRNC) who is very keen to ensure that the squad go one better than last year and win both of the Inter-Service games and claim the elusive Cup.

Looking to the season ahead, the RN Mariners have selected 10 fixtures which include traditional opposition and a number of tougher games to ensure the squad is ready for the Inter-Service challenges.  Games will be played in Portsmouth, Plymouth and around the Yeovil area to ensure ease of travel for all squad members.

The Head Coach hopes to build on the momentum of last season, introduce more players to RN Mariners rugby, win all of the 10 fixtures and enhance the squad for the following seasons.

All the players have returned positive and hungry for further success; determined to be in the squad that lifts the Inter-Service championship in May 2014.  A demanding season beckons!
