RN U23s depart UK for Naples

The RN (U23) team have departed for a 6 day training camp in Naples, beginning in earnest their preparation for the forthcoming Inter Services Championship, writes Lt Phil England. Twenty-three members of the squad, along with support staff, will be based at the Carney Park Complex in Naples. The aim of the training camp is to foster team spirit, develop personal and collective skills, and learn how to look after themselves as players to maximise their potential. The programme involves a series of coaching sessions, fitness sessions and advice on nutrition and injury prevention, designed to maximise the potential of the individual players, but also produce a team that will take the game to our Inter Service rivals with the right result. The highlight of the camp will be participation in the Salerno stage of the 10th Italian Beach Rugby Championship, on Saturday 21st July in Salerno. Following their weekend exertions, the Squad will spend the Monday being involved in a rugby development day with local children run by POPT Brum Edwards, the resident RN “clubswinger” in Naples. Details of how the team are getting on will be available on this Website together with photographs of the tour party. A full tour report will follow on the team's return.
