ESS Thanked for Successful IDRC Competition

RNRU Vice President, RAdm Keith Beckett presents Mick Hickman and Bob Gray of ESS with a framed shirt
RNRU Vice President RAdm Keith Beckett and Director of Community Rugby, Lt Cdr Chris Roberts, present Alison Coats, ESS General Manager HMS SULTAN, with playing shirts from the Defence Blacks and IDRC tournament winners Fiji Defence Forces

The Royal Navy Rugby Union took the opportunity at the International Defence Rugby Competition final to thank ESS for their significant contribution to making the tournament such a success. ESS, who are long standing supporters and current shirt sponsor of the RNRU, were also sponsors of IDRC 2015. Without their generous support the RNRU Vice President, RAdm Keith Beckett acknowledged that the tournament would not have been such a success and nor would the RNRU be able to promote rugby union throughout the Royal Navy and Royal Marines as effectively as they do.

As a mark of the Union’s continued appreciation a framed Royal Navy IDRC 2015 playing shirt was presented to Mick Hickman, Food Service Director, Compass Group and Bob Gray, Business Director at Compass Group and Life Member of the Royal Navy Rugby Union.

The Admiral then also presented playing shirts from the Pool 1 teams, Fiji and New Zealand, to Alison Coats, ESS General Manager at HMS Sultan.  Alison and her team’s work had been greatly appreciated by the three teams, who were hosted at HMS Sultan during the tournament, and they had all remarked on how well they had been hosted during the competition. Japan, who had already returned home have made alternative arrangements for their shirt presentation.
