Chairman’s Challenge

Britannia Royal Navy College's Centenary rugby match will really be a Chairman's Challenge in more ways than one. Commodore of the College and Navy Rugby Chairman, Tim Harris, has raised a side to play the College XV to mark the milestone in the College's illustrious history. In the spirit of the occasion Combined Services Referees have appointed the Chairman of Navy Referees to be the referee. CSRR Appointments Secretary, Iain Martin, said: “When making appointments for matches we always try to take into account the wider context of the game. Hopefully the appointment of Geraint Ashton Jones to the game will help ensure the match is played in a good spirit and is an open flowing contest.” Commenting on the appointment Geraint said: “When I was offered the appointment I was delighted to accept. I have been fortunate enough to have had many great experiences throughout my refereeing career and occasions like these simply add another chapter. Hopefully both teams, my touch judges and indeed I will all have a match and a day to remember.” The match is to be played at the college on Wednesday 14 December, kick off 14:00.
